- Laurie meadows/east san mateo lift station, package 1
Project Title: Laurie Meadows/East San Mateo Lift Station, Package 1
Project Type: Collection System
Approximate Construction Start & End Dates: September 2019 to June 2010
This pump station project will take place along Laurie Meadows Drive from 300 feet west of Suzie Street through about 100 feet north on Woodbridge Circle. The existing pump station to be rehabilitated is in Laurie Meadows Park.
As part of the Clean Water Program (CWP), the Department of Public Works is upgrading the existing aging and undersized sewer network to increase the integrity of the sewer system and reduce the risk of potential sewer overflows during storms using hydraulic modelling, helping to meet regulatory requirements. Increasing the pump station capacity to remove wastewater will also reduce potential sewer overflows.
The East San Mateo Lift Station project is being coordinated with a roadway project managed by Public Works staff, but outside of the CWP. The roadway work will follow the CWP work to minimize disruptions to this neighborhood. The project will be delivered in two construction packages, with Package 2 commencing later this summer.
Package 1 involves pump station rehabilitation and some pipe and manhole repairs, as follows:
- Replacement of the existing Woodbridge lift station, which includes:
- Modifications to the existing wet well
- Installation of a new wet well, and new pumps, piping, panels, and generator
- Abandonment of the existing Laurie Meadows pump station
- Installation of new gravity main, force main, and manholes
During project work, it is expected that one lane will remain open in each direction to accommodate local traffic.
