Underground Flow Equalization System

UFES Construction Update – May 5, 2022

Pipeline Work along Saratoga Drive

The City’s contractor will be performing pipeline work along Saratoga Drive to rehabilitate aging infrastructure and improve the wastewater collection system.

Work will occur between South Delaware Street and the main entrance to the San Mateo County Event Center, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., from May 9, 2022 through May 31, 2022. Some construction activities will extend through the night.

Daytime activities include cleaning the pipeline, installing the pipe liner material, cleaning and inspecting the line, connecting at each end, and testing. Night work includes performing the liner curing process, which typically requires a 48-hour period of continuous use of a generator and boiler.

During this work, nearby residents can expect some short-term inconveniences – such as additional lighting, construction traffic, noise and vibration due to the various construction activities, and trucks and equipment operating around the project site. Alerts will be sent via newsletter and text message ahead of work requiring traffic updates, work hour changes, or expected to generate excess noise at the Event Center site.

We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we make steady progress toward the completion of our sewer system improvements.

*Construction schedules and traffic patterns are subject to change
