As the County of San Mateo’s COVID-19 Health Order continues to evolve, we follow all guidelines and safety instructions to ensure your infrastructure continues to improve during this time.

UPDATED POST: UFES Site Preparation Begins in August; One Day Lane/Sidewalk Closure on Saratoga Drive

Construction is set to begin on the Clean Water Program’s Underground Flow Equalization System (UFES) Project. Site preparation will start in early August and includes installation of temporary construction fencing for safety and site security, and trailer and equipment staging at the San Mateo Event Center on Saratoga Drive. This work will require a one-day closure of the sidewalk and the bike lane on Saratoga Drive between the Event Center driveway entrance and 28th Avenue, and reduction to one southbound lane. The work is expected to take place on August 5, 2020 in early August.

Other site preparation activities are expected to last through September, with more significant construction anticipated to ramp up in mid-October. We will continue to update you on the construction schedule as details are finalized.

We look forward to completion of these necessary upgrades that will benefit the health of our residents, nearby ecosystems, and the San Francisco Bay.

UFES Construction Monitoring Update

Equipment to monitor groundwater levels, vibration, dust, and noise during UFES construction will be installed during site preparation phase. Monitoring updates will be available on the UFES project website prior to significant construction activities starting in mid-October, and through the duration of the project.

An optional pre-construction assessment of select neighboring properties from within a 500-foot radius of the project will also be conducted within the coming months to assess the existing conditions and monitor for settlement. Property owners who returned a signed Right-of-Entry Agreement for these assessments are being contacted by the City to schedule their initial assessment in the coming weeks.
