Underground Flow Equalization System

UFES Project Update – June 6, 2022

UFES Project is Making Great Progress

The UFES project continues to make great progress. Phase 5 construction is well underway, and includes installation of the mechanical and electrical equipment, concrete base, walls, columns, beams, and top slab for the UFES structure.

As of June 2, 2022, over 5,300 cubic yards of concrete have been poured at the at the Event Center Site. The floor of the underground concrete structure is complete. The next several concrete pours will build the walls of the structure.

The ongoing pipeline work along South Delaware Street will continue.

Pipeline work along Saratoga Drive has been suspended temporarily to accommodate events at the San Mateo County Event Center. All lanes in both directions will be open throughout June 2022. Traffic updates will be sent before the City has to close Saratoga Drive again in early July to continue with the pipeline work.

Traffic control measures remain in place. Signs are placed in specific areas to provide direction and ensure the safety of drivers.

Approved work hours are as follows:
San Mateo County Event Center Site: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Saratoga Drive: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.; South Delaware Street: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

*Construction schedules and traffic patterns are subject to change.
