Underground Flow Equalization System

UFES Project Update – July 15, 2022

Progress Continues on UFES Project

The UFES project continues to make great progress. Phase 5 construction is well underway, and includes installation of the mechanical and electrical equipment, concrete base, walls, columns, beams, and top slab for the UFES structure.

As of July 15, 2022, approximately 6,000 cubic yards of concrete have been poured at the San Mateo County Event Center site. The floor of the underground concrete structure is complete, and a series of pours occurring this summer will build the walls of the structure. Construction of the nearby electrical building at the Event Center site is also progressing.

The City’s contractor will begin pouring concrete to build the diversion structure on South Delaware Street near the intersection with Saratoga Drive this month. The ongoing pipeline work along South Delaware Street will continue.

Saratoga Drive, in the vicinity of the San Mateo County Event Center, is expected to remain open through late Summer 2022. Future construction activities will require lane closures.

Traffic control measures remain in place. Signs are placed in specific areas to provide direction and ensure the safety of drivers.

Approved work hours are as follows:
San Mateo County Event Center Site: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.;
Saratoga Drive: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.;
South Delaware Street: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

*Construction schedules and traffic patterns are subject to change.
